ATLANTE DELLA CITTÀ GIARDINO

A sonic map of Cusano Milanino to promote art, culture, and inclusion – created through a participatory process with residents, schools, and local organisations | Ongoing

The ATLANTE DELLA CITTÀ GIARDINO was born thanks to a decade-long collaboration with the Sorriso OdV association based in Cusano Milanino.

The project’s output is a community map involving residents, schools, and a wide range of local organisations from Cusano Milanino, alongside a group of people with disabilities who are members of the Sorriso OdV association.

The result is the ATLANTE DELLA CITTÀ GIARDINO, an atlas which invites the listener to explore the Cusano Milanino area through four itineraries, connecting past, present, and future. Each itinerary is accompanied by audio guides created and narrated by a group of people with disabilities from the Sorriso OdV association.

A printed map and a digital version, both featuring QR codes, guide visitors along the four routes through an immersive sound walk.

The Four Itineraries (available in Italian only)

A) Il Sogno di Luigi Buffoli
Discover the origins of the first garden city ever built in Italy.

B) Il Corridoio Verde
A route exploring an important green corridor that runs through the city of Cusano Milanino and connects several urban parks. A journey to reconnect with the surrounding natural environment.

C) I Ponti sul Seveso
Follow this route to discover the Seveso river, its historical significance, the river park project, and… the origins of the name of Cusano Milanino.

D) Storia e Origini della città di Cusano Milanino
A route filled with curiosities and archaeological findings, guiding you through the history and origins of the city.

The ATLANTE DELLA CITTÀ GIARDINO is available in both print and digital versions—a guide to discovering the city that you can listen to through descriptions narrated by the voices of the members of the Sorriso association, or read in Easy-to-Read language.
