Workshops for primary and secondary schools on the theme of cyberbullying
The Smonta Il Bullo project, devised in two different formulas for primary and junior high schools, is a workshop on the phenomenon of bullying and cyberbullying that tackles the issue both from a theoretical point of view and, above all, through theatrical 'play' as a way of reflecting on, recognising and combating the phenomenon.
According to data collected by Telefono Azzurro in the two-year period 2013-2014, bullying is on the rise and schools are one of the places where the phenomenon is most widespread.
An analysis of the data shows that bullying is widespread in both primary and secondary schools. As many as one in two children claim to be bullied during their time in primary school, while in secondary schools we have one in every three children victimised.
With regard to parameters such as gender and age, it emerges that bullying concerns both boys and girls, but with some differences: boys predominantly engage in direct bullying, targeting both boys and girls indifferently; girls, on the other hand, use forms of indirect bullying, mainly targeting other girls of their age, with a prevalence of episodes of spreading false or malicious information about them.
With regard more specifically to cyberbullying, in the latest survey (2015) conducted by Telefono Azzurro and Doxa Kids on a sample of 600 Italian 12-18 year-olds almost 1 in 10 (8%) of those interviewed stated that they had spread information/videos that humiliate someone. If more than 1 out of 6 (21%) said they had been victims of bullying, more than 1 out of 10 (12%) identified the Internet as the context in which this violence occurred most frequently.
The proposed project involves a structured path of four meetings where the topic will be explored through the cognitive, emotional, ethical and legal levels.
